Guide’s Day is a program at Yosemite Outfitters for our most flexible clientele. It’s for our clients who call up to say, “I want you to treat me like family and friends visiting the park” or “What are the best things to do this time of year”?
You hire a guide because a little local knowledge can go a long way. These full and half day trips are tailored to provide variety and go with the flow of what nature and current conditions bestow upon us. There’s a best time of year for every activity and location in the park. We love chasing fish, but also quality multifaceted experiences.
Think of it like this, guiding is like a painting, the broader the color palate at your disposal, the more tools you have to create something special or unique. Every client carries different expectations and desires. It’s important to let guides know what you are looking for, but also beneficial to let go and be open to new experiences as they present themselves. A lot of our best trips involve an in prompt to hike, viewpoint, or fishing hole. Fishing and hiking in Yosemite encourage us to take a moment for intention, presence, and gratitude in a picturesque setting.
“The longer I guide in a place like Yosemite, the more I realize fishing is the excuse. My ideal client doesn't want to "just fish" but wants to have a more complete and well rounded experience. Maybe go for a hike, stop at a scenic viewpoint and observe the natural world. They bring a positive attitude and desire to learn. They are malleable enough to let experiences shape future interactions with the natural world.” - David Gregory
